Creating a New Event Page

• This website is a wiki, without an account you can only browse the contents. After creating an account, you will be able to create and edit your event page.

Create your Wiki account

In order to create or edit pages, you will need a wiki account.

1. Simply go to this page and create an account.

2. Now that your account is created simply log in!

3. You're done with this step, welcome to the CFD Wiki!

Find your country and city

As next step, simply go to 2013 page and navigate to your country and then city e.g. France, Paris.

Step 1: Find your country

1. If you found your country in the 2013 page , please click on your country to go to your country page.

2. If you cannot find your country, please check out Add a new country section to create your own.

Step 2: Find your city

1. If you found your city in your country page, simply click on your city to go to your city page.

2. If you cannot find your city in the country page, please check out Add a new city section to add your city.

Step 3: Create your event page

1. Go directly to this section to create your event page.

Step 4: Update your city page

1. Please go to Update your city page section to add your event in your city page so people can find your event and participate.

Add a new country

If you cannot find your country in the 2013 list.

For example, if you want to create an event called "Culturel Centre Lalala" from Paris.

Step 1: Scroll down to the page bottom and add a new country page

1. Please scroll down to the bottom of the 2013 page where you will find a section to add a new country.

2. Add your country name (e.g. France) in the empty text box.
3. Click on the "Add country" button.

Step 2: Add your country description

The next screen shows you a standard country template like this if you use wiki mode

and like this is you use the GUI mode

Note that you can switch from one mode to the other one without saving just by clicking on the "GUI mode"/"Text mode" button.

So now you need to do your first editing using wiki. You can easily use the GUI mode, which is great for doing copy&paste from other web sites, or wiki style. As mentioned above switching from one to the other is very easy. If you plan on using wiki style then look at HelpOnMoinWikiSyntax to discover all the possibilities that it offers.

A quick edit of this page will be like this:

1. Add a description below CFD @ PAGE @ for people to know more about your country
2. For description, you may go to Wikipedia and copy the first, second or third paragraph of your country description (CTRL+C)
3. Go back to your CFD Wiki page and switch to GUI mode

4. Place your cursor at the end of the CFD CreateYourEventpage and type enter

5. A new line will be inserted with your cursor at the beginning of this line
6. Paste the content of the clipboard (CTRL+V)

7. In the empty text box inside the green bar, insert 6 after What is 5+1?

8. Save changes.

You're done! The page should look like this.

IMPORTANT: Do not remove any other information from that page before saving, it will break down the layout of the wiki page.

Add a new city

1. If your city is not listed in the country page, please follow the steps as below.

2. If your city already exist, you will want to go directly to the next step.

Creating a city works very much like creating a country.

Step 1: Scroll down to the page bottom and create a new city page

1. Please scroll down to the bottom of the 2013 page where you will find a section to add a new city.

2. Add your city name in the empty box (don't forget to use a Capital letter, it's always nicer).
3. Click on the "Create city" button.

Step 2: Add your city description

The wiki will then automatically create a City page based on the right template for you. And that page will look like this if you are in Text mode:

As you can see from the template we have designed a zone to add a little description of your location. You can easy use the GUI mode, which is great for doing copy&paste from the web, or wiki style editing. As mentioned above switching from one to the other is very easy. Create your new Event page

So you're arriving at the main section. If you created the page, it will be empty with the two bullet points Event 1 and Event 2 (we'll get back to those). If not, there should be some existing events listed in your city or region page. Do not worry about those yet.

The event page itself

Go to the bottom of the page to find the text box to create your event page. The box will look like this:

Once you have entered the name of your event click on the "Create Event" button. The wiki will then automatically create a Event page based on the event template . And that page will look like this if you are in Text mode:

Now just fill in your event name and if you have no definite plan yet, just inform your potential readers that you're working on it. Maybe leave some ways to contact you if they are interested in joining your event.

Do not remove the CategoryEvent2013 tag at the bottom of the page. This insures that your event gets listed in the event list page.

When typing text in Wiki mode you will notice that words with 2 capital letters in it such as OpenSource create an automatic link to a wiki page. This called CamelCase in wiki language and design to make URL linking and creation easy. If you do not want hyperlink to be create just add an exclamation mark in front of that term such as !OpenSource.

Note your event URL, you can see it in the navigation bar in your browser once you've saved it. Just remove the #preview at the end of. You will need /YourEvent (e.g. /Centre Cultrel LALALA) for the next section. For the registration form, you will need Country/City/Event.

Update your city page

After you finished creating your event page, please return to the city page to list your event page there for people to find your event.

Step 1: Go to your city page

1. Please click on the gray banner above your event name: you should see your region/city listed right there.

2. Or you can go back to 2013, click on your country and then your city to go to your city page.

Pressing the back button or back arrow from your browser will not work and ask you to resubmit the data you just submit. Another way can be to just remove your event name from the browser address bar and type enter.

Step 2: Edit your city page

1. Once you are on your city page, click "Edit" button. You have two way to do this:
   • Text mode: requires that you use the direct wiki URL to your page as mentioned above
   • GUI mode: gives you the ability to do an automatic search on your event page

Text Mode

1. Clik on Edit button

2. Replace EventOrganizer1 by your event name

3. Make a link to that page by typing [[/YourEventPageHere|Your event name]]

4. Delete the EventOrganizer2 line (and the star as well)

5. Please do not change anything else

6. In the empty text box inside the green bar, insert 6 after What is 5+1?

7. Save changes.

Do not remove the CategoryRegion tag at the bottom as it ensures that your region/city gets listed in the region/city page.

GUI Mode

1. Clik on Edit (GUI) button

2. Replace EventOrganizer1 by your event name

3. Select your event name with your mouse and click on the hyperlink button from the toolbar like in the screenshot below

   

4. Type your event name in the search box and click search (like in the screenshot above)
5. Click on the drop down button from the search result and make sure you select the link with the full location to your page that includes country and city
6. Click Ok

7. Delete the EventOrganizer2 line (and the bullet as well)

8. Please do not change anything else

9. In the empty text box inside the green bar, insert 6 after What is 5+1?

10. Save changes.

3. Edit the page to reflect your target wiki page (after the #REDIRECT or even a HTTP-#REFRESH.
